SCS Student-Run Coffee Shop Secures $8K Grant for Baby Care

Blessed Bean, the SCS Student-Run Coffee Shop recently was able to bless BabyCare in a BIG way!
Last fall, our SCS Business students partnered with Lead4Change, an organization dedicated to equipping students in grades 6–12 with essential leadership, collaboration, and stewardship skills.
After learning that some families in our community are forced to choose between buying food and diapers for their babies, our students were inspired to make a difference. They partnered with BabyCare, a Sheboygan nonprofit that provides diapers and other essential items to families in need, and got to work planning an awareness and fundraising campaign.
Our students organized and executed a variety of initiatives, including:
- Creating and sharing social media content
- Opening the Blessed Bean for our middle school students
- Hosting a convenient “drive-through” donation event for SCS families
Thanks to the generosity of our school community, they raised $683 to support BabyCare!
But the story didn’t end there.
This spring, our students submitted a summary of their project and its impact to Lead4Change, along with a request for an $8,000 grant; enough to provide approximately one year’s worth of diapers for BabyCare!
Through the goodness of God, their proposal was selected!
Over the summer, our students had the incredible privilege of presenting BabyCare with an $8,000 check, making a lasting impact on families throughout our community.
We are so proud of our students for using their business knowledge, leadership skills, and compassionate hearts to serve others. This project is a wonderful reminder that business can be a powerful tool for loving our neighbors and glorifying God. Thanks to Mrs. Hildebrand for leading the Blessed Bean class and fostering this desire to live out our faith among our students. Thanks to Lead4Change for their tremendous generosity, and thanks to BabyCare for your continued impact on our community!
