Apple Pie Sale
History of SCS Apple Pies
The Apple pie fundraiser has been in place for over 30 years, starting with Nancy VanDerPuy, Suzie Warmus and Deb VanDrunen. The first year, 300 apple pies were made. All of the topping was made at home and brought to school. The second year, 1,100 pies were made and orders went up by 1,000 each year after that. The committee quickly learned that they needed things like food processors, peelers, and corers to make the process more efficient. A generous donor purchased all of the apples and another engineered a coring machine. In 2008, 10,000 pies were made!
All proceeds from the sale of apple pies go to Sheboygan Christian School. Apple pies are usually made the 2nd or 3rd weekend in October. The gym is set up on Thursday night, the topping is made on Friday, and pie production begins on Saturday. We take Sunday off and finish making pies on Monday.
Apple Pie Orders
It’s that time of year again to order our delicious apple pies! Pies are available in size small (6 in) for $8 or large (10 in) for $16. Pies will be available for pick up at Sheboygan Christian School (929 Greenfield Avenue) on Saturday, October 19, from 10:00am-6:00pm and Monday, October 21, from 11:00am-6:00pm. We encourage those school families that wish to deliver pies to their friends and family to place one bulk order under their family name. Orders are due by September 30. If pies are available, pies will continue to be sold after this date.
Apple Pie Volunteering
We rely on parents, grandparents, and friends of the school to help make SCS apple pies each year. Workers are needed to assist with the pie production and selling process, including making boxes, preparing ingredients, slicing and coring apples, packaging, selling pies, and more. It’s a great way to meet new families!
Volunteer Times:
- Friday, October 18 from 8am-6pm
- Saturday, October 19 from 8am-8pm
- Monday, October 21 from 8am-Finish
