SCS Booster Club
Fundraising Service Opportunities
School growth and community are a vital part of Sheboygan Christian School and the body of students, staff and families. The Booster Club works hard every year to fulfill a $100,000 commitment to the school community. By volunteering for fundraisers, events, and the various opportunities, it not only supports our school to help raise funds, but also fosters the community relationships within our school. By volunteering you are helping to unite and work for the common goal of supporting and growing our school. We are so thankful for our community members who are passionate and dedicated to building the SCS community.
Curious about the service opportunities that are out there? See below for some of the ways our families and community members can get involved!
Good As New Resale Shop
Good As New is a thrift store in Cedar Grove that was started in the 1970’s by parents, friends and supporters of Sheboygan County Christian High School. GAN is located at 244 Commerce Street in Cedar Grove. Over 55 volunteers continue to serve Good As New, with all proceeds going to Sheboygan Christian School!
See store hours and the volunteer schedule here.
Workers are needed to sort donations, organize the floor, work the cash register, and more!
Christian Schools Golf Outing
This is a benefit golf outing designed to support Oostburg Christian School and Sheboygan Christian School and to build relationships in the community. All proceeds from this event will be used to offset the cost of tuition.
The event typically falls on the 2nd Saturday in August, starting at 7am with tee times running until 10am or later, depending on the number of teams registered. There are hole prizes, fellowship and fun!
It is a special opportunity for Sheboygan Christian School and Oostburg Christian School to partner together, working for a common cause and having a great day of golfing!
Workers are needed to assist with soliciting corporate sponsors, prizes, collecting fees, registering golfers, recording scores, overseeing hole challenges and handing out prizes.
One Walk for Christian Education
The One Walk, to benefit Sheboygan Christian School, has been held annually since 1971, and has raised thousands of dollars to beautify and improve our school while keeping tuition costs competitive. In the early years, students (including some of our grandpas and grandmas) walked from Cedar Grove to SCS—a hike of nearly 20 miles! For the past several years, the One Walk has taken on even more meaning since the approval of both school associations to join campuses and make this school a PreK-12 Christian school.
The One Walk is a 10 mile (middle-high school) and 3 mile (preK-5th grade) walk where SCS community members walk for Christian education. Students seek donations in support of their efforts. Our generous sponsors help us guarantee that every pledged dollar goes directly to making SCS the very best school we can be! For more information, click here.
Workers are needed to assist the chairperson with soliciting corporate sponsors, prizes, organizing the event and helping the day of the event. There is a need for bike marshalls as well. Meetings begin in early September.
Apple Pie Production and Sale
The Apple pie fundraiser has been in place for over 30 years, starting with Nancy VanDerPuy, Suzie Warmus and Deb VanDrunen. The first year, 300 apple pies were made. The second year, 1,100 pies were made and orders went up by 1,000 each year after that. A generous donor purchased all of the apples and another engineered a coring machine. In 2008, 10,000 pies were made!
Apple pies are usually made the 2nd or 3rd weekend in October. The gym is set up on Thursday night, the topping is made on Friday, and pie production begins on Saturday. We take Sunday off and finish making pies on Monday.
Workers are needed to assist with the pie production and selling process, including making boxes, preparing ingredients, slicing and coring apples, packaging, selling pies, and more. We rely on parents, grandparents, and friends of the school to help make the pies. It’s a great way to meet new families!
Cherry, Blueberry & Rhubarb Pie Production and Sale
Besides apple pies, SCS also makes delicious cherry, blueberry, and rhubarb pies. This fundraiser is held the 2nd weekend of February. The gym is set up on Thursday night, the topping and rhubarb pies are made on Friday, and cherry and blueberry pies are made on Saturday.
It is a wonderful opportunity to meet new families. We rely on parents, grandparents, and friends of the school to help make the pies.
Workers are needed for the pie production and selling process, including making boxes, preparing ingredients, pie creation, packaging, selling pies, and more. Another way you can help is by collecting rhubarb during the summer months for our rhubarb pies.
SCS Auction
Each spring, family and friends of Sheboygan Christian School gather at a local venue for an evening of fellowship, food, and amazing auction items. Most recently this event has taken place at the beautiful Berkshire in downtown Sheboygan and has become the biggest annual fundraising event for the school. The evening consists of several parts: the silent auction, dinner, dessert auction, and the live auction.
The donations raised from this event are used to support the SCS mission of equipping students to impact the world, both near and far, for Jesus Christ.
Workers are needed for the following: soliciting businesses for donations, auction day workers and auction night workers.
SCRIP
The SCS SCRIP program is a great way to help lower your tuition payments and raise funds for school.
You do not have to purchase anything you do not already use! If you are buying gas for your cars or groceries for your family, SCRIP will work to your advantage. Simply purchase gift cards from school for the face value of the card. You then use that card just as you would cash. The businesses donate a percentage of that card value back to school and a portion of that is applied directly to your tuition account. Percentages range from 2% to 16% (or more). We have gift cards from several local businesses on hand in the office SCRIP store on campus. You can find more SCRIP information HERE!
