Mrs. Doornbos Steps into New Role at SCS
We are pleased to share that Mrs. Roshelle Doornbos has agreed to step into the role of Math Teacher for our middle school students and Health Teacher for our high school students. She will be continuing her Special Education Instructional Interventionist role as well. We recently asked Roshelle a few questions as she reflects on this new way to serve at SCS.
- Why do you love working at Sheboygan Christian School?
- I have worked at SCS for the last two years as a special education instructional interventionist and will continue that part time. Working at SCS is a privilege and I love getting to see God working through the school and pouring into the lives and hearts of the students it serves.
- Why are you excited about this position?
- I am excited to be able to impact kids in a different way this year in the classroom. Math was one of my favorite subjects in school and I am hoping to share that with my math students. Teaching people about how to be healthy has been a large part of my career as a nurse and I am excited to teach that to high school students.
Roshelle (Hazeu) Doornbos grew up in Sheboygan and attended Sheboygan Christian School K-12. She is married to Calvin Doornbos and they have four children, Matthias (Junior), Ezra (Freshman), Titus (5th grade), and Tabitha (3rd grade), who all attend SCS.
After high school, Roshelle went to Dordt College where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minors in Sociology and Theatre Arts. That is also where she met and married her husband, Calvin Doornbos. She later went to Marquette University and became a Registered Nurse. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University. She has been a nurse for twelve years working in Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Camp Nursing, and Behavioral Health.
Roshelle and her family are members of Christ Community Church, where Roshelle is a deacon and part of the Youth Ministries team and is the Safe Church Coordinator.
