Steve Van Drunen, 2026 Bob Ingelse Friend of Christian Education Award Winner

At our 2026 Association Meeting, The SCS Board of Trustees awarded our community’s fifth annual Bob Ingelse Friend of Christian Education Award. This award reads,”Our community’s highest honor, The Bob Ingelse Friend of Christian Education Award is annually given to individuals who are representations of our school’s Core Values:
- Pursues Academic Excellence
- Develops the Christian Mind
- Cultivates Spiritual Growth
- Encourages Biblical Self-Image
- Builds Strong Social Bonds
- Involves the Supporting Community
- Serves the Greater Community”
The 2026 award was given to long time teacher Steve Van Drunen.
In addition to Steve’s 43 years of service as a teacher at our school, Steve has transitioned in a weekly on campus maintenance department volunteer to help our building and programs run smoothly. SCS Board Vice President Scott Warmus presented the award. According to their nominations, Mr. Van Drunen embodies all of the core values at SCS. We ask those who nominate to speak to the nominee’s qualities. A few of these quotes caught our attention:

Even in retirement Steve continues to be a huge supporter and blessing for SCS. He spends several hours weekly working doing various behind the scenes projects at school and at the Good as New.”
