SCS Awarded $9,100 Grant to Expand “Project Lead the Way” to Middle School

We are excited to share some great news: Sheboygan Christian School has been selected to receive a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Gateway grant valued at $9,100!
This grant will fund the expansion of our PLTW program into the middle school, building on the successful launch of PLTW in our high school last year. Our STEM task force worked hard to pursue this opportunity, and we are grateful for PLTW’s investment in our students.
What Is PLTW Gateway?
PLTW Gateway is the middle school version of the Project Lead the Way curriculum, designed for students in grades 6-8. Through hands-on units, students work together to solve real problems, use the same tools and software that professionals use in their fields, and begin to see themselves as capable engineers, designers, and problem-solvers. Middle school is exactly the right time for that kind of discovery.
A Natural Pathway at SCS
One of the things we love most about this expansion is the pipeline it creates. Middle school students who engage with PLTW Gateway will arrive in our high school PLTW courses with a foundation already in place, ready to go deeper.
That kind of continuity is good for students. It builds confidence over time and gives them years, not just months, to grow in their STEM skills before graduation.
What the Grant Covers
The $9,100 grant covers program participation fees and teacher core training vouchers. Teachers will complete PLTW’s immersive Core Training before the program launches, equipping them to facilitate this kind of hands-on, project-based learning well.
We are thankful that this grant makes it possible to bring this program to more of our students.
