Sheboygan Christian School Playlist
Welcome to Sheboygan Christian School’s Playlist
At Sheboygan Christian School, we teach our students from a Reformed Christian perspective. This mission calls us to engage with culture while staying true to our Christian faith. This means that we don’t shy away from the world around us—we thoughtfully engage with it.
Music is a vital part of our community and culture, and we recognize that it plays an important role in creating a welcoming and dynamic atmosphere at our events. However, we also understand the responsibility of ensuring that the music we play aligns with our values as a Christian school.
We care enough about this issue that we spend money on it. We have partnered with Neptune GameTime, a music streaming platform specifically designed to provide 100% lyric-safe music for public spaces. Founded by a Christian businessman, Neptune GameTime screens tens of thousands of popular songs to ensure they are free of inappropriate content like sexual, violent, or vulgar themes. Some songs are carefully edited to remove unsuitable lyrics, while others are instrumental versions to preserve their musical value without conflicting messages. This allows us to bring a diverse and engaging playlist to our events that reflects our mission of cultural engagement and faithfulness.
We’ve created this page to provide clarity about our playlist choices and answer common questions. Explore the sections below to learn more.
We use Neptune GameTime to curate our playlists. Neptune GameTime is a music streaming service designed for schools, waterparks, and other public spaces. Every song in their library is individually screened to ensure it doesn’t conflict with Christian values. Some songs may be edited for length or content, and only safe versions are included in our playlist. If a song is played at an event, it’s because it has passed Neptune GameTime’s rigorous screening process.
Neptune GameTime screens every song in their library to ensure it’s safe for public use. Songs with inappropriate language or themes are either excluded entirely or edited to remove offensive content. In some cases, only instrumental versions are used. The platform’s commitment to 100% lyric-safe music means that every song we play has been thoroughly vetted. One thing we never do: “bleep out” the swear words. In those contexts, it’s basically just making the listener say the words in their own head. So we avoid that altogether.
Our playlists are curated through Neptune GameTime’s extensive library of pre-screened songs. The platform allows us to customize our playlist based on themes, events, and the atmosphere we want to create. While our staff has input on selecting genres or specific vibes, the songs themselves are pre-approved by Neptune’s screening process to ensure they meet our values. The athletic department then provides this curated list to our student athlete leaders, who select songs from this filtered pool.
At Sheboygan Christian School, we believe in engaging with culture as part of our Reformed perspective. This means we recognize that truth, beauty, and goodness can be found in all areas of life, including popular music. By using a carefully curated and screened playlist, we’re able to provide music that reflects creativity and connection while aligning with our values. Playing only overtly Christian music would limit our ability to engage with the broader culture in a thoughtful and discerning way.
Of course! Neptune GameTime ensures that songs with inappropriate lyrics or themes, such as those promoting violence, sexuality, or vulgarity, are excluded from our playlists. In some cases, songs may be edited to remove problematic content. If a song cannot be sufficiently edited to align with our values, it will not be included.
As a Reformed Christian school, we recognize that all humans are made in the image of God and that their creativity can reflect God’s truth and beauty, even if they don’t share our faith. While an artist’s personal values may not align with Christian principles, we evaluate songs based on their content rather than the individual’s personal beliefs. Our partnership with Neptune GameTime ensures that only songs meeting our standards for appropriateness and alignment with Christian values are played.
Not at the moment. But we’d love that to change. If the whole league did it together, we actually all get a discounted rate. To us, this seems like a great use of funds to make sure that sporting events are fun, but also family friendly.
