5 days to launch date!

On Monday, January 23rd, we are launching Parents Web!  You will receive an email with instructions to create a login.  This is where you find new announcements, calendar dates, documents, and photos.  Also, classroom newsletters will be posted on Parents Web. After January 23rd, announcements will no longer be in the Blue Note format.  Grandparents and supporters will be able to find the school calendar and info on events on our new website (currently under contruction) at www.sheboyganchristian.com and will receive more information about SCS through our quarterly newsletter, SCAN.

SCHOOL NEWS

  1. 6TH GRADE GIRLS TAKE 1ST PLACE:  The SCS 6th Grade Girl's Basketball Team had an exciting weekend.  The team was entered in the St Dominic's Basketball Tournament.  The girls played 2 games on Friday night and won both games with scores of 36 to 6 and 24 to 8.  They also played 2 games on Saturday and won both games with scores of 17 to 2 and 10 to 5.  This led the SCS team to win 1st Place in the tournament!!!  The team consists of Deena Black, Emma Hendrikse, Hannah Hendrikse, Becca Mendez, Natalie Moeller, Lindsey Navis, Maggie Navis, Emily Pockat, Julia Touw, and Roni Williams.  The team is coached by Christa Black and April Navis.  You can checkout the trophy in our trophy case and watch for the team's picture in the Sheboygan Press.

  2. IMPORTANT HOT LUNCH NEWS:  Effective immediately, hot lunch ticket prices have increased.  A single meal will now cost $2.50 instead of $2.25.    The “extra” pizza/hamburger ticket remains at $1 per meal..  A six meal ticket now costs $15 and a 12 meal ticket now cost $30.00.  Tickets for the full third quarter now costs $67.50 plus $9.00 for the extras.  Fourth quarter tickets now cost $75.00 plus $11.00 for extras.  SCS tries to keep the hot lunch at a “break even” program.  We do not make any profit from your meal purchases.  However, because of the unexpected high increase in food costs, we have no choice but to increase the ticket price.  Mrs. Wilson prepares high quality meals for your children.  You can count on your child being served a well-balanced, nutrition-filled meal.  That will not change.

  1. The Six Flags READ TO SUCCEED program began December 1 for students in kindergartern through sixth grade.  Students are encouraged to read (or be read to) at least six hours or 360 minutes between December 1, 2011 and February 15, 2012.  Students reaching this goal will receive a free pass to Six Flags Great America.  The pass is good during the 2012 Summer Season.  Reading logs can be obtained from the classroom teacher.

  1. ANNOUNCEMENTS:  School news will be posted on the Parents Web home page.  Please send announcements/calendar items to kotte@sheboyganchristian.com.  Be sure to check Parents Web regularly for important school announcements.

  1. WINTER:  SCS’s policies regarding school cancellations, delays, early dismissals, and student winter dress:
  • Tune in to radio channel WHBL -  1330 AM; TV stations: WTMJ channel 4 (Milwaukee), Fox 6 News (Milwaukee), NBC 26 (Green Bay) to hear of any winter weather school cancellations, delays, or early dismissals. Decisions regarding delays or cancellations are made by 6:30 AM.   As a general rule, if the Sheboygan Area School District cancels school, has a start time delay or dismisses school early due to weather conditions, SCS will do the same.
  • If school is in session and we must cancel school early in the day, please do not call the school office.  Many immediate procedures must go in to effect for closing early causing the staff to be tied up.  Please avoid any unnecessary phone calls to the office.

Thanks for all your help!

  1. ACHIEVER”S CLUB: Report cards will be out soon and I am sending out a friendly reminder to staff and teachers to let students know they can be rewarded for their “A”s  by filling out an entry form for each A  or  grade equivalent to and A  for a chance to win a $25 Mall gift card. All entries will accumulate all year so the more A’s entered the better chance to win. FUNDRAISING

  1. CHRISTIAN CASH: EARN MONEY WHILE REMODELING!  Tis the season for home improvements.  Home Depot, Menards and Lowe's are all available through the Christian Cash program.  Earn 3%-4% on whatever you purchase.  I know of a family at Sheboygan Lutheran who purchased $15,000.00 in Home Depot cards for a remodeling project.  If you do the math that is a credit to their account of $300.00 and a credit to parents club of $300.00.  See how everything you do adds up!  I will be trying to keep a little extra of the Home Depot and Menards (although not $15,0000!) in the Christian Cash Store so pay yourself for doing those improvements.

Build a Bear is a new ScripNow! retailer.  Do you need some Valentine presents?  Purchase Build-a-Bear at a rebate of 8%.
