SCS Blue Sheet

June 2, 2010

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL:

1.       You may have heard that something remarkable has happened at SCS.  The Destination Imagination team that went to Knoxville, TN last week came home with a first place!  They competed against 59 other teams in the same category from around the world.  These kids have figured out something that confounds many of us for a lifetime:  The power of working in partnerships far outweighs individual accomplishment.  Please join us as we will recognize this team and dedicate their trophy to God at an end of the year chapel this Friday at 8:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church next door to school.  Also at this chapel we will recognize the efforts of our b1 groups and their creation of community at SCS.

4.       Summer office hours will begin Monday, June 14. The hours will be Monday-Thursday, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM or by appointment. For the month of June, someone will most likely be in the office all day. Please call first just to make sure. The office will be closed on Fridays.

11.   SUMMER WORK DAYS have been set. Your help is needed and required! The building needs to be deep cleaned. Mark your calendars with these dates:
·         Saturday, June 19 – moving furniture out of classrooms and cleaning. 8:00 AM - Noon
·         Saturday, June 26 – moving furniture back in the classrooms and cleaning. 8:00 AM - Noon
·         Saturday, August 14 – final cleaning before teachers return to the classrooms. 8:00 AM – Noon

If you are unable to attend the scheduled Saturday Work Days, you may come in on weekdays starting on Monday, June 14. Remember to call the school office to be sure the building will be open. During the week of June 21-25, the furniture will be out of the classrooms, this will be an ideal time to come in to dust cabinets, wash walls, sweep cobwebs, wash windows, etc.

All families with children enrolled in 5K- 8th grade are required to work a minimum of four hours during the summer months to clean and do maintenance at SCS. If you do not work four hours, you will be charged an additional $50. We do not budget additional custodian time during the summer months. With parents sharing in the work load, we are able to save your tuition money in this area.

Many families need to fulfill this work day commitment yet for the current school year. These families must work four hours before June 30 or pay the $50 fee. If you have already fulfilled your 09/10 commitment, any work you do this summer will be credited to your next year’s commitment.
Call the school office if you have questions regarding the summer work days or requirements.
12.   Your children have created some great works of art again this year. The best of their work will be on display at the Sheboygan County Fair during Labor Day Weekend. Be sure to visit the Education Building and check out the students’ marvelous artwork.

13.   TUITION DUE: All families will receive a tuition statement early next week. The balance due on that statement is what is owed to SCS. All SCRIP credits and Parents’ Club credits have been posted. All balances must be paid in full by June 15. A $100 service fee will be added to any account that is not paid in full. Should you have any questions regarding your statement or balance, contact Mrs. Sharon Eggebeen (457-3060 or seggebeen@sheboyganchristian.com).

14.   You can continue to keep abreast of the Tri-School task force’s progress by accessing the school website and clicking the link under “What’s New” labeled Tri-School Task Force Web Page. Contact the school office if you have questions about accessing or posting comments on this site.
