After many years of studying our current facility, the Board came to a conclusion in 2005. God wants us elsewhere. The Long-Range Planning Committee examined the demographics of Sheboygan County and matched it to several potential sites for a new campus.

One of our families knew a couple who was selling pieces of its farmland for development. In 2006, SCS purchased land from Leslie and Judy Rahn through the generous donation of one of our supporters.

So, what has been happening since that historic moment? The Board hired Timothy Group, a company that specializes in capital campaigns for Christian organizations, to determine the feasibility of such a project for SCS. In essence, they took the pulse of the SCS community and found it to be not only supportive of a new campus, but also willing to put its finances behind such a major venture.

Building the project team was completed earlier this year. Abacus Architects and Quasius Construction were selected, with each firm busy creating working documents in preparation for the actual building phase. The Build/Plan Committee has spent countless days and nights guiding this process so vital to the successful completion of the project.

In June, the “Rooted & Growing” campaign was established with a goal of $7,000,000.

This includes:
$5,000,000 – new building
$ 500,000 – equipment/furnishings
$ 500,000 – operating expenses
$1,000,000 – endowment

A major step in faith was the Board’s move to hire its first full-time director of development. In June, Russ Otten joined SCS with the specific task of raising the $7,000,000. The 1971 SCS grad states, “I joined SCS because I felt God’s hand on my shoulder. All of my past positions have been preparing me for this opportunity to serve Him at SCS.”

Since June, seven committees have been tirelessly working on the building blocks of the project.
Spiritual Emphasis was established as a basis for all of the other committees. The power of prayer has been evident during the 110-year history of SCS. And it continues to amaze. Public Relations has set the tone for the “Rooted & Growing” campaign with the new folder/inserts and video, along with a sign on the new property and other collateral materials.

Estate Planning is busy meeting with groups and individuals who want to be a blessing to the school when they pass into glory. These gifts cannot be underestimated as they insure the ability of future SCS families to afford Christian education. The other four committees are focused on raising $7,000,000.

Several milestones will mark the “Rooted & Growing” campaign.

They are:
• $2,000,000 committed with Abacus and Quasius
moving on construction plans
• $5,000,000 committed with ground-breaking of
the new campus
• $7,000,000 committed with opening doors to the
new building

Today, numerous major donors are prayerfully considering God’s will for the resources that they have received from His hand. Many other presentations are taking place or being prepared. God is certainly at work through the efforts of many.
