In the Community
Loving and Learning – by Amy Abel
After many successful, meaningful connections for our students and the community during the 2011-2012 school year, we were excited to begin serving together again this school year! At Sheboygan Christian School, we strive to make serving an integral part of learning, and of living, and God is showing us amazing things as we continue to follow Him. Here are the things that we as a school unit have been able to do as the hands and feet of Christ during the first half of this school year:
Leaf-raking in the Neighborhood – School-Wide Project
Candy Donation to Service Men and Women – School-Wide Project
Collection to Benefit Head Start – School-Wide Project
Operation Christmas Child – 2nd Grade
Decorating Cookie box Lids for Meals on Wheels – 3-Year Old Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Grades
Caroling in the Neighborhood – School-Wide Project
Decorating Placemats for Meals on Wheels Clients – 4-Year Old Kindergarten
Letters to Pine Haven Residents – Middle School Language Arts Class
There are many more ways in which we plan to connect with the community during the remainder of the school year. On our minds are things like making cards for the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, making table decorations for the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice, making welcome bracelets for a group of girls traveling here from Thailand, and decorating the windows of the 8th Street Boston Store in Sheboygan for the International Bike Race in June!
We also post volunteer opportunities within the community from the Volunteer Center of Sheboygan for the parents of our school, so that families can serve together. If you are interested in volunteering in the Sheboygan community, please check out the following website! www.volunteersheboygan.com
