Something new is happening at SCS! Use of the phrase “student body” has been going on for years, but this year, we are expanding the definition beyond just meaning the group of students attending. We are taking to heart the message of I Corinthians 12:27 which says, “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” As a school we are committing to becoming more fully the body of Christ by strengthening our “student body”. We will accomplish this by getting to know, encouraging and praying with each other. The students will also work and serve the community together. To this end, each student in grades 5K – 8 has been placed into one of 20 groups. Each of these groups includes someone from each of the grades, and is led by the oldest student in the group (usually an 8th grader, but some of the 7th graders are also leading). Each of the teachers is “hosting” 2 groups and is there for support and encouragement only. The groups will be meeting together for an activity once a month, and for additional prayer time during the week. We have decided to call these groups “b1” (be one). Stay tuned as we see what God will do through b1 this year!
